These few minutes of quiet won't last. Despite my closed door, someone will notice I've arrived and the parade of projects and people, requests and demands will begin. But for now I sit clutching a hot mug of tea while summer's last stand rages overhead. With every sip of the autumn in my cup, the thunder roars, battling the Shane and Shane that comes from my speakers.
And just as I begin griping to Jesus, begging Him to keep people from driving me crazy, the Shanes sing the words my heart should be saying instead...
May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart
be pleasing to you, my God.
You're my Rock and my Redeemer.
You're the reason that I sing.
I desire to be a blessing in Your eyes.
Every hour and every moment,
Lord I want to be Your servant.
I desire to be a blessing in Your eyes.
And I realise there are two ways to approach this busy day. I can hunker down and plod through the day, protecting myself from the demands, the requests and the inevitable stresses - hoping to scrape by with little damage to my sanity.
Or I can take these moments of still and quiet to make sure that my heart is set on Him so the words I speak today are gentle and encouraging. I can focus on my Rock and my Redeemer and view each encounter as a chance to be His servant, an opportunity to be a blessing.
What a difference a few minutes and a song can make!
O Lord, that I would be focused on you, speak words of encouragement and be a blessing in Your eyes.

Such an encouragement! I woke up feeling extra tired today, knowing I have a jam-packed schedule until 9:00PM tonight. I just prayed that He would lead me throughout the day and use me to encourage others towards Him. Hope your day kicks off well!
Great post! Boy, do I relate! Thanks for sharing.
