Making Progress

After a restful weekend, I decided to take advantage of my snow day yesterday and set to the task of settling in.

First I took on this plain corner in our living room.

Did you notice the picture frame leaning against the wall? Can you guess what I did with that (well, what Hubby did for me)? See the clutter on the media cabinet? I cleared it all, added some spring to the room annnndddd......

Tada! We finally have something (wedding pictures!!) hung on a wall that is not in our bathroom! And this picture really doesn't do justice to the size of those lilies.

After arranging the flower, I moved on to the bathroom - I recently decided to change our bathroom colors to coordinate with the flower prints that are hanging over our vanity. I hung our green towels and used this $3 tray I found at Ikea to soften the cold counter top.

And just to prove the littlest of things really does make a difference, let's stop by the bedroom. Most days during this past week, the room looked like this...

Do you see that chair in the corner? The one with the laundry piled on it? Well it now looks like this...

And the bed - well, last night we crawled into this...

In case you didn't catch it earlier, Hubby and I did make it to Ikea this weekend (in the pouring, very cold rain). And in addition to my bathroom find, I also snagged a few plastic containers and one very cool grocery bag holder. So now our pantry looks like this...

I only showed you one corner of the pantry becuase I need about 20398402934 more bins to hold the rest of our snacks and staples.

Anyway, I had great visions of decorating grandeur. If only I could redesign an entire room at once. Unfortunately my office still looks the same. We took one look at the boxes for our bookshelves and realized bribery would be in order. Perhaps the promise of dinner could convince my folks to bring their SUV and help us cart those bad boys home.

Until then, baby steps. Either way, I'm making progress.

Good job on the house work. I love cleaning and decorating. I also love Ikea but the closest one is almost two hours away so we only go when we visit DC since it's on the way.
